Clincal value of ICTP in diagnosis of bone metastases in breast cancer

Objective:To study the clincal value of serum carboxy terminal telepeptide type I collagen(ICTP) in diagnosis of bone metastases in breast cancer.Methods:Serum ICTP contents were measured with EIA in 60 breast cancer patients and 23 health controls.Results: ICTP serum concentrations in breast cancer patients with bone metastasis was significantly higher than those in patients without bone metastasis and in healthy controls.The sensitivity of ICTP was 77.8% and the specificty was 91.3%.The sensitivity and serum levels of ICTP in breast cancer patients with many bone metastasis parts were significantly higher than those in patients with single part and both of them were increased with the clinical stages.Conclusion: ICTP is helpful for early diagnosis,monitoring and the clinical states of bone metastases in breast cancer.
