Interventional therapy by bronchoscope on tracheal multiple papilloma:a case report and review of literature

Objective To study the clinical features of the tracheal papilloma so as to arouse a comprehensive understanding of the disease and make accurate diagnosis and treatment.Methods The clinical data of one case of tracheal squamous cell papilloma were retrospectively analysed and the related literatures were reviewed to describe the clinical manifestations,diagnosis,treatment,and prognosis of the disease.Results The case was diagnosed as tracheal papilloma by the bronchoscopy and pathological detection,interventional therapy under electron-bronchoscope was effective for treatment of the disease.The clinical presentations of the tracheal papilloma were nonspecific,which ranged from mild symptoms like cough to life-threatening conditions like upper airway obstruction.Treatment depended on the location of the papillomas and age of the patient.Conclusions Tracheal papilloma is a relatively rare benign tumor of respiratory system,it is easy to misdiagnose due to lacking of specificity of clinical manifestations,bronchoscopic biopsy contributes to the diagnosis.The treament is mainly bronchoscopic interventional therapy.
