Fantasy Pitching IV: Batman, Donald Duck, Fast Food, Superpowers, Self-Determination

2017
Fantasy Pitching IV follows in the footsteps of three earlier fantasy pitching exercises: Faff, Ali, et al. (2016); Faff, Wallin et al. (2016) and Faff, Carrick, et al (2017). Like all prior versions, the current paper challenges teams of novice researchers to use the framework of Faff’s (2015, 2017) pitching research template, in an extremely time constrained setting, to pitch fictitious research projects. In this case, the context is a PhD course run at the University of Queensland Business School on the “Research Process”, led by the first author. Such a fantasy application of the “pitching” approach provides a low stress environment for appreciating and exploring the underlying philosophy of the pitching research tool. Herein, we describe the fruits of five such pitch teams relating to: (a) Batman; (b) superpowers; (c) fast food; (d) self-determination; and (e) Donald Duck.
