Characterization of breast tissue composition and breast cancer risk assessment using non-invasive Transillumination Breast Spectroscopy (TIBS)

Near infrared Transillumination Breast Spectroscopy (TIBS) is used to obtain major chromophore concentrations and scattering parameters. These are compared with mammographic density (which is highly correlated with breast cancer risk) to determine relevant associations.
