ALGUNAS VENTAJAS DEL MATERIALISMO EMERGENTISTA SOBRE OTRAS CONCEPCIONES ACERCA DE LA RELACIóN MENTE/CUERPO EN FILOSOFíA DE LA MENTE

En el presente trabajo se realiza un analisis del estado de la cuestion en relacion con lo que en filosofia de la mente ha dado en llamarse el problema de la relacion mente/cuerpo. En este contexto, diversos autores han proporcionado soluciones diferentes al mencionado problema. En lineas generales, existen dos grandes grupos de soluciones: el monismo psicofisico y el dualismo psicofisico. Simultaneamente, al interior de ambos grupos, se observan distintas variantes que discrepan en sus postulados centrales. En el presente trabajo se examinan, en primer lugar, dos variantes del dualismo psicofisico: el paralelismo y el interaccionismo. En segundo lugar, se analizan dos variantes del monismo psicofisico: el materialismo fisicista o reduccionista y el materialismo emergentista. Finalmente, se exploran algunas de las ventajas que posee la concepcion correspondiente al materialismo emergentista frente a las otras concepciones abordadas. In the present work this problem is reviewed and analyzed. Concerning this topic, diverse authors have provided different solutions to the mentioned problem. In general terms, there are two main groups of perspectives: the psychophysical monism and the psychophysical dualism. Simultaneously, inside both groups, there are different varieties that differ in their central postulates. Firstly, in the present work, two varieties of the psychophysical dualism are examined: parallelism and interaccionism. Secondly, two varieties of the psychophysical monism are analyzed: physicist or reductive materialism and emergentist materialism. Finally, the advantages of the emergentist materialism conception among other perspectives are explored. Key words Mind/Body Dualism Monism Emergentist materialism
