Longevity of CI engines using ''diesel'' mixtures

1983
Four tractors, used in highway right-of-way mowing, were operated on fuels containing up to 40 percent refined soybean oil during the 1982 mowing season. Minor problems were encountered with microbial growth in all fuels. Analyses of crankcase oils revealed no abnormal engine wear. Significant amounts of combustion chamber deposits were found with all fuels including No. 2 diesel fuel.
