Vietnamese food recognition using convolutional neural networks

In this paper, we investigate Vietnamese food recognition problem and compare different methods by using traditional hand-crafted features and convolutional neural networks (CNNs). To this aim, we first introduce one dataset including five popular Vietnamese dishes with more than 2000 images. We then conduct various experiments on that dataset and analyze the performance of each approach. The experiments show that CNNs outperform the hand-crafted techniques by a significant margin.
