The paper offers an analysis of Ukrainian positioning in the global innovation space. The necessity of the priority development of the country's innovation sphere in the conditions of crisis phenomena has been determined. The assessment of Ukraine’s place in the indixes that characterize the level of innovative component’s development for the country's economy competitiveness is carried out. The analysis of Ukrainian industrial structure is carried out, and the need to increase the high-tech sectors’ share is noted. The level of Ukrainian industrial enterprises’ innovative activity is assessed. The need to increase funding for research activities and attract foreign investment for the modernization of the country's industry was noted. An insufficient level of innovation infrastructure’s development was noted. It is concluded that the basis of Ukrainian innovative competitiveness is human capital, knowledge and research. These areas require special state support, since their effective implementation is the main competitive advantage of Ukraine.
