Spiral CT in Treatment Planning of Intraoperative Radiotherapy

Gastric carcinoma is a malignancy with an unfavorable prognosis due to a high rate of regional failure after standard therapy of surgical resection. External beam radiation is given only in palliative intent. High doses to control neoplastic disease cannot be achieved in the upper abdomen without significant normal tissue toxicity.
