The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a high-thermostability and high-performance thermal interface material that uses graphite and that is capable of solving the problem related to thermostability of conventional polymer-inorganic composite-type TIMs and further attaining excellent thermal resistance properties even when used between members having uneven surfaces; and an interface thermal coupling method. The purpose is achieved by using a graphite-film thermal interface material which has a thickness falling within the range of 1-50 μm and a density falling within the range of 1.4-2.26 g/cm 3 , wherein the thermal conductivity in the film-surface direction is at least 500 W/mK, and the arithmetic mean roughness Ra of the surface falls within the range of 0.1-10 μm.
