Relaxation phenomena in polymeric guest-host systems studied by Stark spectroscopy (electroabsorption)

1997
Abstract The reorientation of dye molecules in a polymer matrix was studied by use of electroabsorption spectroscopy. The described method is selective to the relaxation process of the chromophores embedded in the matrix. The technique can be used to determine the fast relaxation processes at high temperatures which are not observable in the time domain as well as for the observation of slow processes below the glass transition. The sensitivity of the new method is 0.1%wt of chromophore in the matrix.
