Sternal Clefts and Cantrell Syndrome

2021
It is an anomaly of the anterior chest wall characterized by a complete or partial sternal fusion defect. It can be associated with Cantrell Pentalogy, PHACES syndrome, or other anomalies (hemangiomas, congenital scars, and skin lesions). Surgical repair is mandatory in all cases for these reasons: protection, avoiding paradoxical respiration, and improving cosmesis. The repair of this malformation is better obtained during neonatal age.
