20 MHz and 7.5 MHz high frequency sonography in breast disease

2004
Objective To investigate the clinical value in the diagnosis of breast disease with 20 MHz and 7.5 MHz high frequency sonography comparatively. Methods Breast diseases of 30 cases were scanned with 20 MHz and 7.5 MHz sonography separately. The breast lesions were described according to shape, size and blood flow. Results Compared to 7.5 MHz sonography, 20 MHz high frequency sonography is of a higher visibility of breast intraductal papilloma or carcinoma with duct dilatation, capsular-like echo and infiltrating boundary and micro-calcification of breast mass and diffuse or nodular lesions of breast cutis. Conclusion 20 MHz high frequency sonography has great value in the visibility of breast mass, particularly in breast intraductal papilloma or carcinoma with duct dilatation and micro-calcification of breast mass.
