Adsorption voltammetry of selenium in the presence of phenylenediamine (o-PDA)

1990
Abstract The adsorptive voltammetric behaviour of Se(IV) on the HMDE in the presence of o -PDA has been investigated. Experimental results show that the Se(IV) complex with o -PDA can be adsorbed on the surface of the HMDE, yielding two peaks at −0.13 V and −0.62 V vs. SCE, corresponding to the reduction of both the Se(IV) complex and the Se(0) complex with o -PDA adsorbed on the surface of the HMDE. The mechanism of the reaction is discussed. The detection limit of the adsorption voltammetry, established from the second peak at −0.62 V, is as low as 4×10 −10 mol 1 −1 .
