How Professional Societies Support Engineering Education: Pre-University Teachers and Their Students

Multiple reports and studies highlight the need for the global engineering community and policymakers to develop programmes to address the public’s perception of engineering, to influence pre-university students and their teachers and to position engineering education as a more attractive programme of study. Many engineering societies have developed programmes and activities that support and promote engineering as a programme of study and career choice among pre-university teachers, their students, and the public. Several examples of how engineering societies are delivering programmes and activities in this area are discussed.
