Optimization of Adiabatically Tapered Y-Branches for Dual Polarization Operation

Profiles of adiabatically tapered Y-branches are optimized with a particle swarm optimization algorithm. Low loss, compact, broadband, and fabrication tolerant Y-branches are demonstrated with very low polarization sensitivity. Devices with various minimum feature sizes are designed to demonstrate the limitations imposed by fabrication constraints.
