Electromagnetic flaw detector ÉD1-03 for checking water- and gas-line pipe in the hot state

1987
An ED1-03 eddy current detector was developed to check pipes with an outside diameter of 80-90 mm at temperatures up to 1300 C. Experiments showed the ED1-03 was sensitive to defects such as dents, poor fusion, and seams. The ED1-03 is a modular detector in which the primary transducers, the water cooling system, and the preamplifier are installed in a removable mounting separate from the main bulk of the positioning mechanisms and acquisition circuitry, enabling quick removal and replacement in case of transducer failure and avoiding the problem inherent in its predecessor, the ED1-02, of having to dismantle the entire test assembly.
