2016
This study addresses the occupational mobility of technicians of the Technical Course in Nursing at the School of Public Health of Ceara, of Fortaleza health macro-region, from 2002 to 2012. Their goal was to describe the personal and family profile of these technicians, as well as their current labor situation in the labor market. It was a quantitative and qualitative research conducted with 63 technicians from seven pole cities of Fortaleza health macro-region. In order to collect the data, a questionnaire with the aim to identify the technicians’ personal, familiar and professional profile and check the occurrence of occupational mobility, was applied. The results showed that for the majority of the technicians, the upward occupational mobility in a regularized way did not happen. Most of them remains employed as nursing assistant, and is satisfied with its current professional activity. The prevailing labor linkage is as public worker, with no career plan which allows their category change. The reports of the technicians indicated that the greatest benefit of professional improvement through technical training was the acquisition of knowledge in nursing, and that such training did not result in professional development, itself, for them. It was concluded that the emphasis in the medium-level nursing workers training must be accompanied by initiatives that contribute to their professional growth, with the expansion of regularized job vacancies for nursing technicians.
