SEMI-MOMENT GRAPHICAL METHOD FOR FINDING THE REACTIONS OF SIMPLY SUPPORTED STRUCTURAL MEMBERS
1995
With the semi-moment graphical method, the loads are shifted to roller support graphically, and termed as dummy loads. The loads are proportionately increased/decreased graphically while shifting to roller support. This is done in such a way that their moment at pin support remains unaltered. The reaction of the roller support will be equal to the algebraic sum of the dummy loads, and support reaction can be determined by closing the Force Polygon. Different cases of simply supported beams, with different levels of the vertical/inclined supports have been evaluated by analytical and the semi-moment graphical methods. Results are tabulated and compared.
