Methods and systems for operating a stop / start motors

There are presented systems and methods for improving the operation of a vehicle. In one example, the vehicle brakes will be maintained to reduce the possibility of vehicle movement, and the stop of motor rotation is prevented until a confirmation of the stop of the vehicle is present. The approach could allow an engine to stay for a longer period of time in an off state, while the possibility of vehicle movement is reduced.
