Endovascular treatment for chronic type B aortic dissection: current opinions

First described in the 18th century at the autopsy report of King George II, aortic dissection remains the most common emergency and catastrophic disease of the aorta, associated with a high preadmission and in-hospital mortality. Aortic dissection occurs in about 3–4 per 100,000 persons per year.
