Biobrandstof en hout als energiebronnen : Effect op uitstoot van broeikasgassen : Visiedocument

2015
The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences publishes short position papers dealing with current themes about which science can provide factual information. The Academy aims to contribute in this way to public debate. Biofuel is such a theme. The position paper Biofuel and Wood as Energy Sources – Effect on Greenhouse Gas Emissions [Biobrandstof en hout als energiebronnen – effect op uitstoot van broeikasgassen] has been produced by Academy members Martijn Katan, Louise Vet, and Rudy Rabbinge. Their conclusion is that the co-firing of wood in power stations and the use of biofuels for transport do not lead to a substantial decrease in greenhouse gas emissions. Subsidies and guidelines in this context do not achieve the intended purpose
