Manganese Neurotoxicity: Nano-oxide Compensates the Ion-damage in Mammals
2019
Here, we have compared behavioral neurotoxicity of a manganese nanoformulation (citrate functionalized Mn3O4 nanoparticles; C-Mn3O4 NPs) with well-known neurotoxicant Mn-ions in animal model. We found that C-Mn3O4 NPs showed no sign of neurobehavioral disorder, rather ameliorated Mn-induced neurotoxicity (Parkinson’s like syndrome) through chelation of excess Mn-ions and subsequent reduction of oxidative damage.
