Mammography Screening - First Results and Current Data of the German Program

2010
We expect a relevant reduction of breast cancer mortality from early diagnosis by quality-assured breast cancer screening. After the introduction of the systematic population based mammography screening program in Germany in 2005 the first Report could be presented in 2009 which en-closes 2005-2007 and proves that one has also succeeded in setting up the program to early -detection of breast cancer at high-class level successfully. While defined parameters for evalua-tion are determinable to the regulation of the -effectiveness of screening programs by random-ized studies or are countable in established programs, other screening effects like overdiagnoses can only be extrapolated. To reply to partly deviant and competive key data, a standardized model was introduced to give well-balanced operating figures for mammography screening.
