Entwicklungstendenzen der Verfahrenstechnik

50 years ago the first number of the journal Chemische Technik was published. This journal was important for the development of the chemical engineering (Verfahrenstechnik) in East Germany. Therefore the paper deals at first with a short history of the journal and the chemical engineering. The second part deals with the future of chemical engineering on the basis of some discussion materials published in the journal Chemical Engineering Science with the headline Frontiers of Chemical Engineering Science. Last some problems of education in chemical engineering and job opportunities in the society for chemical engineers were discussed.
