Precision measurement of the magnetic moment of 41ScIπ = 72−, T12 = 0.59s and isoscalar g-factors of orbital and spin angular momenta

1990
Abstract The nuclear magnetic moment of 41 Sc I π = 7 2 − was determined by means of asymmetric π-ray distribution and NMR detection. The majority of 41 Sc ions implanted in an ionic CaO crystal following nuclear reactions were located in the substitutional sites of Ca atoms. The value has been determined to be ¦μ( 41 Sc ; I π = 7 2 − ) = 5.4305 ±0.0018 nm . The isoscalarand isovector magnetic moments were obtained to deduce the effective g-factors of the mass A = 41 and 39 pairs, and they were discussed in terms of the mesonic exchange currents and the quark deconfinement effects in the magnetic moments. p]From the comparison of the present NMR data with the previous one of 41 Sc implanted in Pt metal, the Knight shift of Sc in Pt metal, in the dilute limit, was determined to be K = −(0.4±5.3) × 10 − .
