High reliability blade cleaner device

PURPOSE: To clean a moving image-formation surface by using a cleaning blade and also to detect the fault of the cleaning blade. CONSTITUTION: A fault detecting mechanism detects the fault of the cleaning blade 101 and actuates a blade designating mechanism 150. The designating mechanism removes the faulty cleaning blade 101 and arranges the new cleaning blade in a frictional contact state in a wiping system or a doctor system with the image-formation surface so as to perform cleaning. A brush 110 arranged on the upstream side of the cleaning blade in the moving direction of the image- formation surface agitates particles on the image-formation surface.
