Traumatic dislocation of the hip:ma nagement and results

Objective To study retrospectively the effect and method of treatment of traumatic dislocation and fracture-dislocation of the hip.Methods 43patients with hip dislocation were classified into anterior(3cases),posterior(36cases)and central dislocation(4cases).The 36posterior dislocation cases were subclassified according to Thompso and Epstein norm intoⅠ(4cases),Ⅱ(15cases),Ⅲ(7cases),Ⅳ(3cases)andⅤ(7cases).All the cases received treatment.Surgery was done for 22cases and close reduction for 21cases.Results The follow-ups lasted 1to 5years.All the cases were evaluated by Merle dAubigne norm.T he result was rated as excellent in 17cases,good in 11cases,fair in 6case s,acceptable in 3cases,and poor in 6cases.Ischemic necrosis of femoral head was observed in 8cases.Conclusion Since traumatic hip joint dislocation can result in high incidence of dis ability,early diagnosis,precise and stable reduction can decrease the osteonecrosis of the femoral head.
