Under PUVA therapy, Kaposi's varicelliform eruption complicated psoriatic erythroderma. Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-I) DNA was detected by polymerase chain reaction using crude DNA prepared from a fixed, paraffin-embedded biopsy sample. Superimposition of HSV-I infection on a psoriatic lesions has never been reported. PUVA therapy may provide circumstances facilitating spread of HSV-I infection
