Magnetic properties of R6Fe11Al3 and R6Fe12Al2 compounds with R = Pr, Nd

Abstract The magnetic properties of R 6 Fe 11 Al 3 and R 6 Fe 12 Al 2 compounds with R = Pr and Nd have been investigated by measuring the magnetization of free powder particles at 4.2 K in high magnetic fields. Metamagnetic transitions were found in all four compounds. The transition fields and the saturation magnetization decrease with increasing Al content for both the Pr and the Nd compounds.
