New Ternary Rare Earth-Rhodium Germanides: Ce4Rh13Ge9 and Ho2RhGe2.

2010
Abstract The structures of two new ternary germanides were determined by the single crystal X-ray diffraction. Ce 4 Rh 13 Ge 9 has an orthorhombic structure of the Ho 4 Ir 13 Ge 9 type, P mmn space group, a =3.989(1), b =11.250(3), c =19.446(5) A, V =872.7(7) A 3 , Z =2, ρ =9.710 g/cm 3 , λ (MoKα)=0.7107 A, μ =378.96 cm −1 , R w =0.035 for 881 unique reflections. Ho 2 RhGe 2 has a monoclinic structure of the Sc 2 CoSi 2 type, C2/ m space group, a =10.4652(2), b =4.2671(3), c =10.2205(4) A, β =117.22(3)°, V =405.8(6) A 3 , Z =4, ρ =9.459 g/cm 3 , λ (MoKα)=0.7107 A, μ =571.82 cm −1 , R w =0.070 for 921 unique reflections.
