Schwannoma quístico lumbar: presentación de un caso

INTRODUCTION: Spinal schwannomas are 25 % of all primary intraspinal tumors. Nevertheless, cyst schwannomas are rare. CASE REPORT: Male white patient, 60 years old with complaints of severe lumbar pain irradiated to left inferior extremity by the posterior area of thigh and leg associated with paresthesias in second and third finger of both inferior extremities. Lumbosacral magnetic resonance shows a cystic lesion behind L5 body of 36.4 x 19.5 x 18.4 mm. The surgical intervention removes completely this cyst. With hematoxylin–eosin stain and inmunochemistry study for S100 protein the diagnosis was cystic lumbar schwannoma.
