Endoskopische Diagnostik im operierten Magen

1968
Among more than 600 gastroscopic examinations there were 115 of operated stomachs; 86 Billroth II resections, 13 Billroth I resections and a number of other procedures. The endoscopy was performed with a semiflexible instrument and a fiberscope with gastrocamera. It was possible to differentiate by this method certain radiological findings, for instance a hypertrophic anastomosis from a cancer or an ulcer from a diverticulum. The endoscopic diagnosis was confirmed by histologic specimens taken during the procedures or during operations. The gastrocamera film was combined with the radiologic picture on the same slide for demonstration. Gastroscopy seems a most valuable method to diagnose difficult radiological findings in resected stomachs.
