Influence of no Liner Distribution of Earth Pressure for the Back of Retaining Wall on Toppling Stability
2009
Toppling stability design of retaining wall is based on that linear distribution of earth pressure is assumed in the current JTG D30-2004 specification for design on highway subgrades. It does not think over that synthetic function place height of no liner distribution of earth pressure is higher than the liner distribution of earth pressure for the back of retaining wall.Calculation value of toppling stability coefficient is larger than real value by the current specification.Design of toppling stability is not attained anticipatory value of secure store. The calculation formula of synthetic function place height of earth pressure is presented according to mechanical analysis for no liner distribution. The calculation formula of toppling stability coefficient is presented.A new design method is established about toppling stability of retaining wall.Compared on the current specification,it is proposed that the new method should be used in checking toppling stability design about retaining walls in engineering practice. It is necessary to revise design of retaining wall sometime.
