A GERMAN VIEW ON INTERNATIONAL LEGAL BARRIERS FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF ADAS

2006
This paper focuses on the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic from which licensing requirements for ADAS (advanced driver assistance system)-equipped vehicles have resulted. The German understanding of the Vienna Convention is deduced from the wording of the treaty and its consequences are explained. The paper outlines the scope of the legally permissible, specifying the design requirements that will allow for the drivers full command at all times. Finally, the results found are applied to different ADAS. For the covering abstract see ITRD E134653.
