Thin film transducer with reduced flying height

1994
Disk recording system having a combination of sensor / slider, which effectively raised the height by measuring the gap between the sensor and the recording medium is reduced. The slider has a front, a right and a air bearing surface extending therebetween. The rear end of the sensor has a pole tip region near the air bearing surface together form a boundary surface contour. As a result, the effective flying height of the pole tip region is substantially equal to the height of raised border. Equivalent surface may be an inclined plane, a transverse notch or a thin outer layer of a small slant belt. The magnetic sensor may also have a flat bottom pole or a concave bottom center of regional poles.
