Chipless RFID sensor for blockage monitoring in fluid pathways

2020
This paper presents a chipless Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) sensor capable of identifying a blockage development in a fluid tunnel. This chipless RFID sensor is developed by interfacing a Complementary Two Split Ring Resonator (CTSRR) with an experimental setup to mimic the fluid channel in a laboratory environment The experimentation was initially simulated for the identification of blockage in an oil refinery and a similar model was proposed to verify water level inside a stem of a plant Thereafter, fabricated chipless REED sensor performances were measured to validate the proposed sensor design. Chipless RFID sensors are comparatively low-cost, but they provide enormous design flexibility in diversified applications in real-time monitoring in a remote setting.
