Mucoid degeneration of the anterior cruciate ligament.

Background: A 50-year-old male patient was referred to the orthopedic surgeon for non specific knee pain of five months duration. At physical examination the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL)-test was normal. A standard routine MRI of the knee was performed on a 3.0T scanner.
