Experimental Ground Equipment to Apply Concentrated Dust and Liquid Pesticides for Insect Control on Sweet Corn

1970
Use of concentrated dust pesticides (¼-2 pounds per acre, 50–80% active material) resulted in better insect control on sweet corn than ultra-low-volume (ULV) and conventional spraying. Insect control was not improved conclusively by use of electrostatic charges on the dust. The experimental ground equipment for applying the concentrated dusts and ULV sprays worked satisfactorily. However, additional refinements are needed for commercial use.
