Improved synthesis of piperacillin sodium

Piperacillin sodium,a semisynthesis antibiotic,was synthesized from 1-ethyl-2,3-dioxo-piperazine.Firstly,4-ethyl-2,3-dioxo-1-piperazine carbonyl chloride was obtained by acetyl chlorination,then it reacted with ampicillin trihydrate to give piperacillin acid and salted with sodium acetate to give the desired product(1).This route is not only simple but also cheap.In addition,the purity and productive percent is high,and the productive condition is suit to manipulate.
