The Effect Of Environment On The Biofilm FormationAnd The Production Of Exopolymers

The aim of this work was to examine the ability of phenol degrading Candida maltosa to produce exopolymers and form biofilm under different nutrient conditions. Glass and synthetic foil surfaces were chosen for the assessment of biofilm growth. The results show that any stimulation of biofilm formation is achieved under those nutrient conditions that enhance exopolymer production. In comparison with suspended yeast cells, the efficiency of phenol degradation by biofilm cells is enhanced as well.
