[Fibrous fractions of millet silage with increasing levels of sunflower substitution]. Abstract: Measurement of the constituents of the fibrous fraction is a measure to characterize a fiber digestion that are responsible for metabolic and physiological activities not animal body. The present study sought to measure as fibrous fractions of millet silage with sunflower substitution levels and to measure from treatments: T1 - 100% millet; T2 - 75% millet + 25% sunflower; T3 - 50% millet + 50% sunflower; T4 - 25% millet + 75% sunflower and T5 - 100% sunflower, evaluated in 15 sample units. The variables analyzed were: dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP), neutral detergent insoluble fiber (NDF), acid detergent insoluble fiber (ADF) and lignin (LIG). An analysis of variance for evaluated by means of regressions applied without Tukey's test (P 0.05) by means of linear regression. The variables MS, PB, NDF, ADF and LIG presented a significant difference (P> 0.05) according to the levels of sunflower substitution. The DM content decreased linearly 0.14 percentage point in DM at each increment of 1% of sunflower in the ensiled mass, the sunflower silage presented 15.5% DM, which could compromise the fermentative parameters of the silage. Only the treatment with 100% of millet had adequate DM content. The crude protein increased linearly with the inclusion of sunflower in the mass, always being above the minimum of 7% recommended for a good functioning of the ruminal microbiota, with a minimum of 7.73 to 10.67% of PB. The NDF presented a linear behavior, decreasing the inclusion of the variation with 48.08 to 58.52% of NDF. The ADF and LIG cell wall variables presented increasing linear behavior with the inclusion of sunflower in the ensiled mass, with contents ranging from 4.28 to 9.80% and 33.81 to 37.24% for LIG and ADF, respectively. A possible reason for this increase is the higher concentration of these fractions in the sunflower plant (mainly in the seeds). Additions higher than 50% of sunflower, although they did increase the CP content, do not reflect an improvement in the bromatological quality of the silage, since the addition of sunflower increased the more indigestible contents of the fibrous fraction (LIG and ADF), which is usually accompanied by a decrease in the digestibility of the roughage.
