The Goldanskii-Karyagin effect in α-SnF2: A comparison of Mössbauer and neutron diffraction results

A single crystal of α-SnF2 has been subjected to analysis by neutron diffraction at four different temperatures in order to evaluate the Goldanskii-Karyagin effect. The values of the anisotropy parameter, g11, obtained from the neutron diffraction data are lower than those obtained by Mossbauer spectroscopy.
