Using complex cyanides as inhibitors of corrosion fatigue failure of steel

1988
Components and members of structures for chemical, power, gas and other types of equipment are made of lowand medium-steels which are subjected to stress corrosion, especially corrosion fatigue, in service in industrial media (in the majority of cases these media are neutral). Inhibition of the working media is the simplest and most economical method in the group of methods of protecting metals against corrosion fatigue failure (electroplated coatings, diffusion metallizing, surface hardening, diffusion saturation with nonmetals). However, the range of corrosion fatigue inhibitors is small and the majority of the published studies were concerned with examining conventional inhibitors such as chromates, phosphates, benzoates, and nitrates [1-4].
