Analysis on the expression mechanism of hepcidin in the rat model of osteoporosis

Hepcidin is a new discovery of an antimicrobial peptide responsible for the regulation of iron recycling and iron balance,called the iron-regulating hormone.And recent studies detected that in the formation process of the retinoic acid-induced rats osteoporosis model,the expression of hepcidin has changed.Many factors change obviously in the rat model of osteoporosis,some of them play a positive role in regulating the expression of hepcidin,while some play a negative role.The complex action of these factors leads to the expression of hepcidin change eventually.
