Characterization of the Stress Response in Streptococcus pneumoniae

1997
S. pneumoniae is a well known pathogen for a number of diseases including pneumonia, otitis media and meningitis. Its natural habitat is human nasopharynx and cells are presumed to be challenged by various environmental stresses. But no information about the regulation of the stress response in pneumococcus at the protein level is available. In this study, thermal death and stress response in S. pneumoniae were studied to understand the physiological response of this organism to stress.
