Multidisciplinary Safety Investigations of Drowning Accidents

Drowning accident investigations, like other accidents, may have different aims. On the one hand, it is important to disclose any criminal act or other penal implication. In other cases, civil legal claims have to be cleared up. However, these investigations focus mostly on legal and juridical issues. From a prevention point of view, it is most important to learn from all accidents, to prevent their occurrence again. A modern and increasingly used term for this kind of investigation is safety investigation [1].
