Facile Syntheses of 2-Substituted 3-Cyanochromones.

Based on the condensation of carboxylic acid chlorides or anhydrides with 3-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-3-oxopropionitrile (I), a general synthesis of the title compounds (III) is described.
