Polyborates as modifiers for nonvitrifying ceramic bodies

During the mechanical working of layer aluminosilicates it is mainly the AI--O-AI and AI-4>-Si bonds in the polyaluminooxane and polyaluminosiloxane structural layers that are destroyed, while the Si--O-Si bonds in the polysiloxane layers are hardly subjected to mechanical damage [i]. With an increase in the proportion of polysiloxane layers there is a reduction in the effect due to mechanical working of alumlnosilicates in the order: hydrated micaceous -kaollnite-hydrated micaceous -kalinltic " kaolinite-montmorillonlte, which'correlates with the change in the structure and operational features of the ceramic, synthesized from aluminosillcates of these types [2].
