Impact of health promotion and education on the achievements of Cuban public health.

2000
This study determined the impact of health promotion and education activities of the Cuban public health sector with the aim of achieving a higher degree of efficiency effectiveness and relevance in the future projects. A 900-person sample was obtained applying a multiphasic-stratified sampling. The required information was gathered through in-depth interviews and a randomly selected self-applied survey of 20 people aged 20 years. In addition pilot studies and training workshops were developed in selected provinces in the western central and eastern regions. Overall results showed a consensus on the fact that educational actions have had significant impact on the achievements of the Cuban public health sector. This has also been possible due to the significant changes in the social and political structure of the country. Progress is evident in the knowledge attitudes and practices of the population with regard to health. However there are objective and subjective conditions that hinder further development of health promotion and education processes.
